Malaysia looked like an exotic and nice country to live in, I would say! I am studying International Business so we’re required to go study or work abroad three times during our studies. I wanted to be an intern in a nice country where I also could go and travel around. I didn’t know much about Malaysia but by reading Movinant programs I remember saying to myself “Let’s give it a shot”.
How was your internship like?
Good. Very good I would say. I am an Intern working as a Sales Assistant for a French Travel agency in Malaysia. The really good part is that I was able to learn a lot about Malaysia itself and all the best places to go to! Since I am soon to be graduated and that I liked my internship and my superiors seemed to like me too, they offered me to work full-time for a year. So, I guess I’m staying in Kuala Lumpur a bit more than expected 😊
What did you like the most about your experience?
I loved the people that I met here, they are really fun to hang out with. Moreover, Malaysia is surrounded by a lot of cool countries. I had the chance to travel to Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia and you can really feel that each country is different. Moreover, there are so many incredible places to visit in these countries. And if you like to party South East Asia is really cool haha!
What did you like the least in Malaysia?
Oh, this one I know and it’s easy! It’s traffic jam… Sometimes you will get stuck without really understanding why. It can be quite annoying but if you figure out a way to use this time usefully you will not even see it.
Tell us a bit more about your daily intern life in Kuala Lumpur?
I wake up at 9 am every weekday and go to work using Grabcar. The place where I work is basically next to a mall so it’s very convenient. I like to go shopping for groceries and clothes sometimes after work it’s quite relaxing haha. Being close to a mall is also really nice to have lunch since there are so many restaurants. It’s a mix of local and foreign restaurants, when I really miss European food it’s very practical!
Finally, would you come back here? Do you have something to tell students that are wondering to come to do their internship in Asia?
I would not come back to Malaysia since I’m moving here now. My only advice to students is that if you really want something different and exotic don’t hesitate too much. I think that every day is really nice here and that the whole experience can be very beneficial for an intern.
